Always Many Activities Taking Place
in Whitehall's Historical Society

Fourth of July Float

The 2013 float entry in the July 4th parade was a mock-up of a Lustron/1950s room with period furniture from our headquarters. Float builders included Jack and Marie Long, Richard Mason, Dick Janusz, Jodie Martin and Ward Sager. Accommodations were provided by Bob Martin, who, with daughter Jodie, made space in Bob's garage for the float to protect it until parade day. Candy was donated by Richard Mason, Bob Martin, Jodie Martin, Barbara Doane, Marie Long and Patty McLoughlin. The float was  driven by Dick Janusz, and was staffed by Wesley Duffey, Richard Mason, WWII Veteran Mr. Joseph Knapic, Bryan Overholt and Elaine McLoughlin-Overholt - - all of whom threw candy to a large and welcoming crowd. Some of the "throwers" wore 1950s outfits, lent by the Ohio Historical Center. HUGE thank you's go to everyone who gave their time, money and talent to  this successful effort.
